| 2008-04-15 16:52 Nick | CPAP Machines: I have now been on cpap for 4 weeks and am being treated by Papworth. apparently mild apnea is the probable cause of my afternoon sleepiness. CPAP makes me feel better in the mornings ( not that I felt that bad before) but I still feel sleepy in the afternoons but it is not so overwhelming an urge to sleep as before cpap. I am on a pressure of 8 and apparently Papworth measured me to have a mean oxygen saturation of 96%,min of 81% and a desaturation index 4. Firstly please can someone explain these readings to me and secondly should I ask Papworth if I can increase pressure from 8? regards Nick | Answer |

| 2008-07-01 18:00 Pat Knight | CPAP Machines: Help. I've just been diagnosed with OSA and been referred to the Royal Brompton. I've gathered that there is a seven week wait before I will be seen for a CPAP device. We have private medical insurance, but they won't cover the cost of the CPAP device and once we've gone down the private route everything will have to be private. I understand it is possible to hire the machines to start on the route of findinf out which would be best for me. Can anyone advise me as to how and where? Thanks Pat | Answer |
